Viscose, Modal and Tencel Fabric

Viscose, Modal and Lyocell are Rayon Fibres are all from the wood cellulose. All these fabrics fall under the category of Man-Made Cellulosic Fibres. These are semi-synthetic as it comes from Wood pulp, but the process makes it man-made.

Viscose Fabric, also known as Rayon Fabric or Viscose Rayon Fabric in some parts of the world. The clothes that you would wear made out of 100% viscose yarn would look like silk and feel soft like cotton, it is very light, highly breathable and with high moisture absorbency it would help during warm weathers keeping it cooler and warmer during winters. Viscose Fabric has a very good colour absorbency, is really soft in touch and has a very good drape.

Main 3 Types of Cellulosic Fabrics Are:

  Viscose Fabric (Rayon Fabric)

  Modal Fabric (Brand: Modal fabric by Lenzing and Birla both)

  Lyocell Fabrics (Brand: Tencel Fabric by Lenzing and Excel Fabric by Birla)

Then there are various other fabrics, which are available from the same family as Bamboo Fabric, Ecovera Fabric (more environment friendly by Lenzing) and Liva Fabric (more environment friendly by Birla). To support Sustainability these 2 major companies have started these brands Liva and Ecovera, where the process of producing these fibres consumes lesser water and chemicals.

 

You can ask for Knitted or Woven fabrics in any of the above types of fabrics.

The these fabrics can be produced using either of mainly 3 types of yarns – Ring Spun, Open End and Airjet(Vortex). The feel of the fabric would vary as per the yarn used.
